Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

General

What is aRacer?

aRacer is a programmable performance ECU system designed for motorcycles, ATVs, and UTVs. Unlike a piggyback fuel controller, an aRacer ECU replaces the factory ECU and provides complete control over fuel delivery, ignition timing, engine protection strategies, and many advanced tuning features.

What is aRacer ECU R&D of America LLC?

aRacer ECU R&D of America LLC, operating publicly as aRacer SpeedTek, is the official North American engineering, validation, distribution, and technical support center for aRacer products.

Are these products street legal?

Most aRacer ECUs are intended for off-road and closed-course competition use only.

It is the customer's responsibility to understand and comply with all local, state, provincial, and federal regulations.

Ordering

Do you keep products in stock?

We stock our most popular ECUs and accessories in North America whenever possible. Specialty items may require additional lead time.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We ship throughout North America and many international destinations.

Shipping costs and delivery times are calculated during checkout.

How long does shipping take?

Most in-stock orders ship within 1-2 business days.

Installation

Is an aRacer ECU plug-and-play?

Most applications are designed to plug directly into the factory wiring harness.

Some advanced or custom applications may require additional wiring or accessories.

Always verify compatibility before ordering.

Do I need professional installation?

Professional installation is recommended, especially for modified engines or race vehicles.

Incorrect installation can damage engine components.

Do I need to tune the ECU?

Every ECU includes a Quick Burn calibration to get the vehicle running.

Completely stock vehicles often perform well using the Quick Burn calibration without further adjustments.

Modified engines should always be professionally tuned.

Can I tune the ECU myself?

Yes.

The aRacer mobile app allows many common adjustments.

SpeedTuningX PC software provides complete calibration access for advanced users and professional tuners.

AutoTune / AF Modules

What is the AF3?

The AF3 is a high-speed wideband oxygen controller that allows:

  • AutoTune
  • Wideband Closed Loop Control
  • High-speed AFR logging
  • Accurate fueling corrections

Will the AF3 work with every ECU?

No.

The AF3 is compatible with the newer X and XX generation ECUs.

Earlier ECUs generally require an AF2 or AF1 module.

Should I leave AutoTune on all the time?

Generally, no.

The recommended process is:

  1. Use AutoTune to build your calibration.
  2. Switch off the key to save learned corrections.
  3. Turn AutoTune off.
  4. Enable Wideband Closed Loop Control.

This provides excellent drivability while maintaining a stable calibration.

Performance

How much horsepower will I gain?

Every application is different.

Power gains depend on:

  • Engine modifications
  • Exhaust system
  • Intake
  • Camshafts
  • Fuel quality
  • Calibration quality

Many customers also notice:

  • Better throttle response
  • Improved rideability
  • Faster acceleration
  • Easier starting
  • Smoother power delivery

Will it work with turbo or supercharged engines?

Certain aRacer RC Super XX ECUs are designed to support forced induction when properly calibrated.

Please contact us before ordering so we can recommend the appropriate model.

Can I run larger injectors?

Yes.

Injector size, fuel tables, ignition timing, and other parameters can all be calibrated using SpeedTuningX.

Support

Do you offer tuning support?

Yes.

We provide technical support, calibration guidance, and dealer assistance for products purchased through authorized channels.

Can you remote tune my vehicle?

Many applications can be tuned remotely using logs, calibration files, and online consultation.

Some projects may require dyno testing.

Can I become a dealer?

We are actively expanding our North American dealer network.

Please visit our contact page for more info.

Warranty

Is there a warranty?

Yes.

Products are covered against manufacturing defects.

Warranty does not cover:

  • Improper installation
  • Incorrect wiring
  • Water damage
  • Abuse
  • Racing incidents
  • Unauthorized modifications

Can I return an ECU?

Please review our Return Policy before purchasing.

Because ECUs are electronic devices and may be programmed after installation, returns are subject to inspection and approval.
